New York, NY – 02/13/18
I am very excited to announce the release of Melissa Czarnik’s new EP Rainbow Skies. I produced and played key for all five songs and had the pleasure to work with some amazing musicians on this project including: Ryan Ramirez on Drums, Ari Folman-Cohen on Bass, Sam Neufeld on Trumpet, as well as guest features by Ali Carter & Lynette Williams on vocals!
Wish Basket is a piece that I composed for the JACK Quartet while at NYU. It is the culmination of a year long seminar in string quartet writing with Julia Wolfe and Missy Mazzoli.
Black Jesus Over Wish Basket
A fun throwback to when Joel Daniels rocked his poem Black Jesus over my string quartet Wish Basket at Joe’s Pub for a Polyopolos w/ This Is Not the Radio event in January of 2015.
#throwbackTHURSDAY! After eleven years I finally found this project and got it online. Very excited to share my piece Wardances, which was composed for an Art to Art collaborative project in conjunction with Danceworks and Present Music in Milwaukee back in 2005. Diana LeMense was the choreographer, regretfully I know longer know the names of the dancers. . . ENJOY!
Caveman Uncle Pete
Caveman Uncle Pete is a piece I wrote for the NYU Contemporary Music Ensemble during my Master program at NYU. It is scored for pierrot ensemble + vibraphone.
This is my recently composed piece Aujourd’hui for organ. It was written for and premiered by organist Karen Beaumont, with whom I studied piano for many years.
Grace Weber String Quartet Arrangement
This is the string quartet arrangement of mine for Grace Weber’s Til I Hurt You. It was written for an event this past January at Joe’s Pub in New York called POLYOPOLIS presented by Aputumpu with This Is Not the Radio. This version was recorded for a Nylon Magazine feature in July.
Rebel Path is a short documentary by Melissa Czarnik that I had the honor of doing the score for. The video is a window into the life and practice of Ashtanga yoga instructor PJ Heffernan in Wisconsin.
